Guwahati: In a tragic incident, three people killed and 14 others critically injured in a road accident in Assam’s Morigaon district on Monday morning.
The incident took place at Dharamtal area in Morigaon district when a Traveller carrying 22 pilgrims collided with a truck, which was parked near the National Highway-37.
Sources said the three people killed after a head on collision with the parking truck. Among the three killed, one identified as Bhupal Adhikary.
According to reports, the vehicle carrying 22 pilgrims were coming from Parsuramkunda, Arunachal Pradesh and heading towards Guwahati, when the accident took place on Monday morning. The injured were rushed to Swahid Tilak Hemram Gunabhiram Civil hospital in Morigaon.
“We are sleeping but suddenly, we woke hearing loud shout and saw our vehicle hit a truck. Somehow, we managed to comes out from the traped vehicle. Local people rescued the other passengers from the vehicle and take them to hospital for treatment,” said a victim.
He said, “The driver was continously driving throughout the night. Due to heavy fog the accident happened. We went to ParsuramKunda in Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate Makar Sankranti,”.
