To service the Gujarati language audience 10 WhatsApp Groups Factcheck WhatsApp Groups tagging State, Region and Cities of Gujarat have been commissioned by BOOM.
India’s pioneer fact-check service BOOM for the first time launched and facilitated Gujarati language option on its tipline.
How the user can use the BOOM Factcheck Tipline, Tathya Nu Mitra, user just needs to add 7700906588 to their phonebook and save the number as BOOM FACTCHECK TIPLINE.
After adding the number to the phonebook user needs to log on WhatsApp and send “Hi” on 70000906588, as soon as the message is sent by the user, an interactive menu will appear on the screen.
On selecting the options given in the menu, the user can submit any suspicious messages, images, videos etc. through this tipline of BOOM and within minutes the user will get a response from BOOM as to what is the truth of the content submitted by the user.
Any such query as submitted by the user, if matches similar query which was submitted in past by different user or if there is credible media report available online, is shared with the user as a response to the query, which pop-ups on the WhatsApp.
In case any such query submitted by the user which requires further investigation, the user is informed via WhatsApp regarding the same query shared with a team of journalists with BOOM for further investigations.
Thus, the details of the fact-checking in context to any such query submitted by the user, is serviced accordingly where the entire process of fact-checking is done based on journalistic neutral investigation and fact-finding process.
With an aim and intent to popularize the fact-checking activities amidst the internet users, as well to ensure that users do not fall prey to misinformation, Boom Fact-check Tipline submission process is now also available in Gujarati language.
Ten (10) WhatsApp groups which are state centric, region centric and city centric in the state of Gujarat including Gujarat, Kutch, Saurashtra, North Gujarat, Central Gujarat, South Gujarat, Surat, Baroda, Ahmedabad and Rajkot, are now activated to service the fact-checking process.

BOOM is one of the first two fact checkers services launched in India. www.factchecker.in was also launched by the founder of BOOM and is based in South Asia and is certified by International Fact Checking Network – Poynter Institute.
