Assam: 3 Ulfa (I) linkmen arrested in Tinsukia

GUWAHATI, SEP 14: In a joint operation carried out by the police and the Army, three youths were arrested on Wednesday for maintaining frequent links with the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (Ulfa-I).

The arrested youths have been identified as Harakanta Moran (24) Kolia Dahotia (36) and Diplav Phukan (27) of Tinsukia district. The three arrested youths have been kept at Digboi police station and are being interrogated for further information.

Recently the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had conducted searches at sixteen locations in seven districts of Assam including Tinsukia and Dibrugarh pertaining to the activities of Ulfa (I) including recruitment of youth, extortion of money and radicalization of youth for unlawful activities and their training at camps based across the Indo – Myanmar border in Myanmar.

During the searches, digital devices, live ammunition along with incriminating documents and literatures related to the Ulfa (I) were seized.
