Assam: AJYCP protest over skyrocketing price rise in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, JULY 22: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad(AJYCP), Bogibeel regional unit on Friday burnt the effigy of Food, Civil supply and consumer affairs minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass at NH 52 Bogibeel in Dibrugarh for failing to curb skyrocketing price rise of essential commodities.

The students’ union demanded a curb in the rising prices of fuel, cylinder, medicines, electricity bill, foodgrains and other essential commodities.

The student body blockade the NH-52 at Bogibeel for hours, which disrupted the traffic movement.

“Due to rising price of essential commodities, the common people are facing difficulties to run their family. The government had assured that they would take necessary action to curb the price rise but they have failed miserably. The Food and Civil Supplies department of Assam has failed completely to check the price rise,” said a member of AJYCP.

He said, “Ranjeet Dass is a worthless minister and he is not competent enough in the post. He should take moral responsibility and go out from the department. He has failed miserably but still he is occupying the important portfolio,”.

Another AJYCP leader said, “The common people are facing problem due to the skyrocketing price rise. From fuel, cylinder, medicines, electricity bill, foodgrains to vegetables price has gone beyond control and out of reach of common people. The government should take strong measures to curb price rise.”
