Under the leadership of honourable Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji along with many other towering leaders of the party, this journey began in 1980. The journey from Bharatiya Jan Sangha to Bharatiya Janata Party saw many inspiring personalities like Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Atal Bihari Vajpayee whose sacrifice, hard work and pure patriotism led to its present destination. I pay my humble tribute to these finest leaders in this wonderful nation building effort. I also pay my deep respects to all those party workers whose untiring effort led to the growth of the party in Assam and we shall forever be indebted to their dedication and commitment. With the help, support and love from the party workers, today, I have an opportunity to represent people. This is due to the sacrifice and earnest handwork put in by our party workers for the party.”

Adding further, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “We take immense pride to serve our nation through a party which believes in supremacy of the nation. We are committed towards nation building as it is our ideology. The dark days of violence and corruption, especially in the Northeast and Assam, during the Congress reign, is a harrowing time for all of us. However, this tide changed immediately after the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath in 2014. The unflinching commitment and resolve of the Modi government has helped addressed long standing and pressing issues of the region. With the sincere effort to bring in peace and development in the region, the vision of making the Northeast as the new engine of growth for the next phase of the India’s growth story is a fantastic opportunity for all of us. Under the strong leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and path shown by the party leader J P Nadda ji, the party has been able to win the hearts of the people of the Northeast along with the rest of India. We remain firmly committed to continue to work towards nation building under the able leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji.”
