Assam: Car rally to promote tourism and adventure motor sports

GUWAHATI, NOV 4: With a view to promote Tourism & Adventure Motor Sports of car rally in this part of the country and to raise funds for various social projects, the organisers have again taken initiative to organise a Car rally in TSD (Time Speed & Distance) format on December 18, 2022 in the name of “JSB Car rally “.

The Car Rally is organised by Lions Club of Brahmaputra Valley jointly with Just Sportz Kolkatta, Licensed by FMSCI (The Federation of Motor Sports Club in India), sponsored by JSB Infrastructures, Dibrugarh.

The Time Speed Distance (TSD), the most popular four-wheeler rally event is back again with more adventure, excitement and challenges.

TSD is the simplest form of car rally which any person with normal driving license can participate in. The rally will be a one-day affair and the organisers are expecting around 70 cars this time. The total rally distance is set at a maximum of 150 km.

The rally will give the drivers an opportunity to drive through jungles, river banks, dusty highways, picturesque locations, Tea Gardens and remote destinations that few others get to see and win cash prizes.” The team with the minimum time penalties will win.

TSD or Time-Speed-Distance rally is a type of motorsport with the object of driving each segment of a course in a specified time at a specified average speed following specific route instructions. One team/car can have maximum of 3 members.

In the JSB CAR Rally, competitors stick to specified speed limits at all times, and go slow in thickly populated areas. The rally moves with the normal traffic and does not cause any traffic disruptions.

The highlight of the rally is that the maximum speed of the car cannot exceed 45 kmph.

This event helps in improving the communication skills within the team and encourages team work amongst the riders & their crew.

The event will also have a separate category for women, the winner of which will claim the Ladies Cup. The rally will be conducted under the Chairmanship of Ajit Kumar Bajaj and the Co-Chairman is Krishna Bhartia.

Suchandan Das from Just Sportz, Kolkata was also present in the meeting and he has come all the way from Kolkata to finalise the route and look into other specifications.

He informed that all that the permit was issued by FMSCI and the rally will be conducted under their rules and regulations.

The FMSCI has also appointed ‘Stewards’ to ensure proper implementation of the rules and regulations. The technical part of the JSB CAR Rally will be looked after by the team of Just Sportz, Kolkata. On December 17, 2022, documentation, pre-event scrutiny, stickering & driver briefing will be held at Govt. Boy’s High School Field from 1 pm onwards.

On December 18, at 8am sharp, the JSB Car Rally will start journey from Govt. Boys High School Field in Dibrugarh.

The Rally will be held on two Legs, the 1st Leg will finish at Manohari- The Tea Retreat and the participants will enjoy delicious lunch at Manohari during the Rally.

The 2nd Leg will finish at Boy’s High School Field and the prize distribution and closing ceremony will be held at same ground on the same day from 7 pm.
