Assam CM visits bereaved family members in Golaghat, assured strict punishment against triple murder case

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday visited the bereaved family members of the Golaghat triple murder case and assured stringent punishment to the accused involved in the heinous crime.

Sarma offered condolences to the kin of the victims at their residence in Golaghat.

Speaking to media persons, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The incident was actually different even Ankita, who is the sister of the victim was also beaten up by the accused husband. In connection to the incident, she had written a letter to me. But I missed the letter. Generally, I received several letters, but I did not get this one,”.

“The circumstances were different then as the lockdown was in place due to Corona. Because of this I must have missed the letter or else I would have sent the letter to the SP. I will not be able to exactly say if Nazibur’s brother and mother was also involved in this, but I think that police should go beyond the confession made by Nazibur,” Sarma added.

Main accused Najibur Rahman Bora

When asked on whether Nazibur’s brother and his mother is any way involved in the murder, Sarma said that a proper investigation will be initiated into the incident as many times culprits confess to save their family or friends.

“I don’t know the involvement of other into the case but proper investigation will reveal the truth,” CM Sarma said.

On Monday, a 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife, father-in-law and mother-in law in Assam’s Golaghat district.

Hindu Kranti Dal stage protest in Dibrugarh on Wednesday

The man, identified as Najibur Rahman Bora, later surrendered to the police with his 9-month-old child.

According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Sanjeev Ghosh, Junu Ghosh and Sanghamitra Ghosh. Their bodies were found with multiple injuries, suggesting that they were attacked with sharp weapons.

On the other hand, Hindu Kranti Dal, Dibrugarh on Wednesday staged a protest at Dibrugarh aganist the triple murder case incident of Golaghat and demanded capital punishment of the accused.

“We condemned the barbic incident where three family members of Golaghat were brutully killed. We also demand capital punishment of the accused and appealed the government at the Centre and state to take step aganist Love-Jihad,” said a member of Hindu Kranti Dal.
