Assam: Delhi Public School celebrates 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan

GUWAHATI,  NOV 24: Delhi Public School Dibrugarh organized a grand celebration to pay tribute to Assam’s war hero, Lachit Barphukan, General and Commander-in-chief of Ahom Kingdom, on his 400th Birth Anniversary on Thursday.

The event was graced by distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Kakoli Gogoi, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Dibrugarh University, Assam, PVC CA. Sanjay Jain and Board member Banita Jain.

The auspicious event began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the speech by Dr. Kakoli Gogoi, leaving an indelible impression upon the students on the significance of Lachit Barphukan’s leadership quality,  bravery and patriotism in the history of Assam.

 Furthermore, Pro Vice Chairman of DPS Dibrurgarh, CA. Sanjay Jain mentioned that, Assam and its rich cultural and historical heritage should be included on the National Curriculum for students to have an insight on Assam and its rich and exotic tapestry.

Banita Jain conveyed her greetings to the people of Assam and the country on the 400th birth anniversary of Mahabir Lachit Borphukan and said we should learn from the sacrifice of this great soldier.

 Principal Probhati Biswas said  that such celebrations instill a sense of pride  and patriotism in the hearts of the young students.

 The day witnessed various remarkable performances such as: Poem Recitation, Dance and Song presentation along with a Role Play, by the students of DPS Dibrugarh, emoting the majestic glory of Mahabir Lachit Barphukan.  The event ended with the patriotic State Anthem.

DPS Dibrugarh continues to make strides in celebrating and commemorating various events with great zeal and fervour.
