Assam: Irate mob torch vehicle after road accident in Tinsukia, 16 detained

Guwahati: Irate mob torched a vehicle in upper Assam Tinsukia following a death of the auto drive in a road accident on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna Mili(40), who died on the spot after a Muruti Suzuki Swift collied with his auto-rickshaw at Guijan area in Tinsukia.

According to sources, one Arup Baruah of Dinjoy Satra driving the Maruti Swift car collided with the auto-rikshaw coming from the opposite direction.

Accoding to reports, several others were also injured in the accident were admitted at hospital. “After the accident, irate mob gathered at the spot and tried to lynched Arub Baruah but somehow police saved the person from the clutches of the mob. But they torched his vehicle,” said a source.

Meanwhile, police have detained 16 persons involved in the vilence and torching the vehicle.Tinsukia superitendent of police Abijit Gaurav said, “So far we have detained 16 persons involved in the violence and torching of the vehicle. We are investigating the case and as per law we will take action against the miscreants,”.
