Guwahati: The wife of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, Kirandeep Kaur on Thursday arrived from Punjab to met her husband at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Amritpal Singh has been lodged in Dibrugarh jail since April 23 under the National Security Act (NSA) after his arrest from Punjab’s Moga district by the Punjab Police. Amritpal Singh and nine of his aides are lodged in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA).
Amritpal Singh’s close aide Daljeet Singh Kalsi’s wife Narinder Kaur alias Neeru Kalsi and son Simarjeet Singh also arrived from Punjab on Thursday to meet Kalsi at the Dibrugarh jail. They were accompanied by advocate Simranjit Singh of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Apart from Amritpal Singh the nine other Waris Punjab De members lodged in the maximum-security Dibrugarh jail are Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh Bajeke, Basant Singh, Gurinderpal Singh and Daljeet Singh Kalsi.
During their visit to the Dibrugarh jail on Thursday Kirandeep Kaur and Neeru Kalsi abstained from speaking to the media, Advocate Simranjit Singh who accompanied them told reporters that apart from NSA charge slapped against the ten Waris Punjab De members lodged in Dibrugarh jail, there were 12 other FIRs lodged against them in Punjab.
“Today the family members of Amritpal Singh and Daljeet Singh Kalsi came to meet them at the Dibrugarh jail. The Punjab government has already constituted an NSA Advisory Board on April 1 and we have a one-by-one discussion with them regarding the NSA cases against the Waris Punjab De members. We are exploring all the legal options,” Advocate Simranjit Singh said.
