GUWAHATI, OCT 28: Northeast’s first traditional sports museum was inaugurated on October 27 by Member Secretary of the member-secretary of the State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare in Assam, Gitartha Goswami.
The museum which is an initiative of the Sports and Cultural Study Centre, aims to preserve and promote all the traditional games and sports of Assam and the Northeast to the world, besides acting as a hub of knowledge about all indigenous and traditional sports.
Speaking after the inauguration, Goswami hailed the development as a revolutionary step and lauded Chiranjeev Sharma for his initiative in setting up the museum. He also assured all possible help from the state government.
He stated that over 600 traditional sports materials have been compiled and made accessible for those interested to study in this field.The Olympia Traditional Sports Museum is located at Rajgarh in Guwahati.
