GUWAHATI, July 21: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)team has been deployed in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district for search operation of the 19 missing construction workers who went missing since July 5.

A 25-member SDRF team left for Damin from Koloriang, the district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district on Thursday morning to join the rescue mission. The construction workers who were engaged in a Border Road Organisation (BRO) road building project in remote Kurung Kumey district close to the China border have remained traceless so far.

Kurung Kumey DC Nighee Bengia informed that that the SDRF team equipped with rescue equipments and medical aids have left for the site along with some police officials. He further said that the district administration is yet to get a response from the IAF authorities regarding engagement of choppers for the search operation. Lack of mobile connectivity is hampering the search operations.

“Today morning a team from the SDRF equipped with satellite phones, medical aids and other rescue tools have left for the site to join the search. It is a difficult terrain and the area is full of poisonous snakes. It is quite challenging for the rescue teams. Regarding deployment of choppers for the rescue mission we are yet to get a response from the IAF. We have also sought the help of the NDRF. As of now there has been information regarding the missing persons,” the DC said.
