Popular Comedian Raju Srivastava suffered a major heart attack last month while working out at the gym. He was immediately brought to AIIMS Delhi and was given CPR twice to resuscitate his heart. Following his cardiac arrest, the 58-year-old suffered substantial brain damage and was unconscious and under observation at AIIMS, Delhi. After 41 days of hospitalisation, the comedian passed away today, September 21 and is no longer with us.
As per the media reports, Raju Srivastava’s family members confirmed the news of his death. This morning his BP dropped and then he was given CPR. At first, he responded to it but later collapsed. The ventilator was supposed to be removed in 2-3 days.
Earlier in an interview, the comedian’s wife also had shared that he was in a stable condition and also urged people to pray for his recovery and requested them to not spread any rumours about his health.
Since the news of the comedian’s death broke, his colleagues and industry pals have conveyed their condolences. Leading figures from the film industry to politicians expressed their sorrow at his death.
Raju Srivastava started his comedy journey from the Indian reality show ‘The Great Indian laughter challenge’ in 2005. But he was in the entertainment industry since the 1980s. He also appeared in Hindi films such as “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Baazigar”, “Bombay to Goa” (remake) and “Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya” and was the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
