Meghalaya: Crowborough Hotel to be inaugurate as Taj Vivanta in Shillong on Sep 26

GUWAHATI, SEP 19: In a big development, the Erstwhile Crowborough Hotel, which was left abandoned for 36 years in Meghalaya’s Shillong will be inaugurated as ‘Taj Vivanta, Shillong’ on September 26.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on September 14 inspected the hotel premises of the first five-star hotel in Shillong’s Police Bazar.

After completing the inspection of hotel, CM Sangma expressed his happiness via Twitter and tweeted, “Erstwhile Crowborough Hotel, left abandoned for 36 long years will be rechristened and inaugurated as Taj Vivanta, Shillong, making it Meghalaya’s 1st 5 Star Hotel.” CM Sangma said.

“A feeling of contentment as we inspected the Hotel before handing it over this month,” he added.

The Chief Minister also interacted with the employees of the Hotel and stated that out of the 112 employees/staff of the Hotel, 80 will be our local girls and boys.

The Hotel, will be run by the Tata group-backed Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) under the Vivanta brand.

The hotel, which is located in the Shillong has 100 rooms in total – eight economy rooms, 58 standard rooms, 30 deluxe rooms, five suites, one banquet hall and one coffee shop.
