Indians Defrauded While Shopping Online During Festive Season, study says 40% Online Fraud

According to a report, 40% of Indians have experienced fraud when purchasing online over the holiday season. The poll, which looked at views regarding cyber security and online shopping over the holiday season, was carried out by The Harris Poll on behalf of Norton, a leader in worldwide cyber safety. According to the research, 78% of Indian adults asked were worried about having their personal information stolen, 77% about being taken advantage of by a third-party vendor, 72% about purchasing or receiving a refurbished device as a present, and 72% about a gift item being hacked (69 per cent). According to Ritesh Chopra, Norton Director India and SAARC Countries at NortonLifeLock, there has been an uptick in online shopping scams, gift card frauds, and postal delivery frauds recently. The majority of Indian individuals who responded to the study, 78%, concur that using their connected devices to spend time online during the holiday season makes them feel more connected, and 74% say it improves their mental health.
According to the survey, 65% of Indian adults claim that their mental health would suffer if they were unable to use their connected gadgets over the holiday season.

The average loss reported by those surveyed was Rs 6,216, according to the Norton analysis, which also reveals that many Indian adults have been scammed while shopping online. According to a study, Indians were scammed while shopping online during the holiday season.
