Schools run by the civic organisation would be closed the following day, December 5, due to the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) election on December 4. The holiday, according to a notice released by the MCD on Friday, is being observed due to the lengthy election duty hours on December 4 and the deployment of nearly 90% of school staff for election duty.
The announcement instructed all schools under the MCD to be closed on December 5 in order to observe that day as “time on election duty.”
However, it was noted that available teachers could choose to hold lessons online.
The Delhi civic body election will be held on December 4 in a single phase, and the results will be tallied on December 7. Residents of Delhi will cast ballots to choose 250 MCD council members.
