Gujarat: Scenes of humanity in Morbi Disaster, human chain formed for rescue operations

Scenes of humanity were created at the scene of the incident where the suspension bridge, which is a historical heritage of the city, was caught in the river Machu. Despite it being a Sunday, as soon as the people came to know about this tragedy, a large number of people have reached here for help. People also risked their lives to form a human chain to save the drowning people. People who knew how to swim, even jumped into the river to save some people.

At the location of the incident where the suspension bridge, a city landmark, became entangled in the Machu river, scenes of humanity were portrayed. Even though it was Sunday, many people came here seeking assistance as soon as they learned about the catastrophe. In order to save the victims who were drowning, people created a human chain and risked their lives. People who could swim have jumped into the river to save some victims.

Former BJP MLA Kantibhai Amritya himself got involved in the rescue operation and he suggested other people to join the rescue operation as well. It is worth mentioning that many people came here because of Sunday. Then in the same evening, the bridge suddenly broke and the tourists fell into the water along with the bridge. As soon as people came to know about the incident, a rescue operation was carried out. So far 42 people have died. The death toll is still expected to rise.

As the bridge collapsed, people were hanging on cables and some were swimming in the water to save their lives. Not only that, it can be seen in the video that several people were trying to save each other by holding each other’s hands and feet. As soon as the incident was reported, the district administration along with the fire department reached the spot and a rescue operation was carried out. There people were pulled out of the river and immediately shifted to the hospital through an ambulance. It is worth mentioning that the rescue operation took place due to the large number of people on the bridge

When the bridge collapsed, people were clinging to cables and swimming in the sea to save their lives. According to its history, Mr. Richard Temple, the Governor of Mumbai, inaugurated Tetluzhulta Bridge on February 20, 1879. When it was completed, in the year 1880 AD, it cost roughly 3.5 lakhs. At this point, England provided the materials for the bridge. The construction of this bridge was intended to connect Darbargarh with Nazarbagh. The entire Samakantha region is now connected to Mahaprabhuji’s seat via a hanging pool. Md.
