Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Chunav 2022: The first round of voting for the state’s assembly will take place today on 89 seats distributed across 19 districts in Saurashtra-Kutch and the south of the state, setting the stage for the election. There are up to 788 people running, and Gujarat will see a three-way race between the BJP, AAP, and Congress. In 14,382 polling places, voting will take place on Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm. AAP candidate for chief minister Isudan Gadhvi is running from Khambhaliya, former Congressman and BJP candidate Hardik Patel is running from Viramgam, and Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel is running from Ghatlodia. Rajiv Kumar, the chief election commissioner, said: “Today marks the Festival of Democracy in Gujarat. I sincerely urge all 4.9 million Gujarat voters to cast their ballots in the second round of voting today and on December 5 on behalf of the EC. 9.8 lakh elderly citizens and over 4 lakh electors who identify as PwD in Gujarat.”
