Manipur: KNO spokesperson’s house torched by miscreants

Imphal: The Kuki National Organisation (KNO) spokeperson Dr Seilen Haokip’s house was burnt down by unknown miscreants on Monday at Churachandpur in Manipur.

According to reports, the farmhouse and residents of Dr Seilen was burnt last night between 11-12 pm.

According to sources, soon after the incident fire tenders were rushed to the place and douse the flames.

Some efforts from fire tenders could put down the fire yet most of the property kept inside the house were burnt down.
One Polo car too was burn down.

KNO, is a appex body of 17 Kuki rebel group, which has been demanding seperate kuki land for the Kuki community.

According to reports, the situation in Manipur took a turn for worse on Monday when firing incidents were occured in the Kangpokpi area, located under the Things at hill range.

Sources said firing incidents occured in Phaileng village during the early hours of the day. Firing has been going on in the area and atmosphere has become tense in the particular area.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a combing operation to flush out the anti-social elements.

On July 2, Chief minister N Biren Singh rushed to the violence-hit periphery areas of Bishnupur district following reports of clashes and arson erupting Khoiujmantabi village.

The clashes resulted in the loss of lives, with three persons reported dead. The situation in the periphery areas of Bishnupur district has remained tense since the outbreak of violence, which initially occurred at midnight on July 2.
