Guwahati, Feb 23: Meghalaya Chief minister Conrad K Sangma said they will get full mandate in the upcoming assembly elections and form the government for the second time.
Talking to reporters, Conrad Sangma said, “We are getting a very positive mood and people are very happy and excited and this positive wave is going on across the state due to multiple reasons. In last five years, our party has done lots of development in the state. The law and order situation has been improved and a kind of initiative taken by our government to resolve the long pending issues,”.
“The National People’s Party (NPP) is the best alternative to move forward. We are getting support from the people as many people joining our party and supporting us. BJP is the part of our government in last five years but this election is different as we are contesting alone. The government of India appreciated our work which we have done in implementing the schemes. They certified us for our exceptional work. In the last five years exceptional work has been done in the state,” the NPP chief stated.
He further added, “Elections is different and we except such statement from BJP and other opposition parties. During the election time, one party accused other party which is natural and we except such statement from the opposition. But nobody can hide the facts. The facts remain the facts,”.
“Definitely, I have seen many elections and had an opportunity to participated in campaigning with my late father from a younger age. I never thinks the upcoming elections is easy. I never take any thing for granted, every election is tough. I believe in what we have done for the state in the last five years, we will get the result in this election,” Conrad Sangma asserted.
Sangma said, “Everybody is formidable opponents and we have to work hard. This time the elections is slightly different because last time we are opponents and this time we are the ruling party. Their are lots of exceptions and issues. But this elections we have seen a strong wave and positive mood of the people towards our party,”.
He further said, “We have not seen any major impact. Wave going on and we are postive to get full majority to form the government,”.
The 60-member Meghalaya assembly will go for polls on February 27 and final preparation has been going on in full swing for the peaceful conduct of the polls.
