Temperature soars in Meghalaya, govt shut down schools in West Garo Hills

Guwahati: The authorities in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya have decided to shut down schools for a few days due to severe heatwave-like conditions in the state.

According to the official order, the schools in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya will remain closed from April 19 to 21.

Meanwhile, West Garo Hills district commissioner issued an order for closing down of schools in the district flowing heatwave like condition.

The State Education department has taken the decission in view of massive surge in heat waves across the state.
“In view of the massive surge in heatwave across the West Garo Hills district… all primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary school activities shall remain closed during the day in the district from 19-04-2023 to 21-04-2023,” an order from the West Garo Hills deputy commissioner stated.

On Monday, the Tripura government announced shutting down of all government and government-aided schools from April 18 till April 24 in view of the hot weather condition.
