The scheme Lakshmir Bhandar got Skoch Award

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, said on Saturday that the Skoch Award for Women and Child Development had been given to her administration’s Lakshmir Bhandar social welfare programme.

The GoWB welfare programme Lakshmir Bhandar has won the Skoch Award in the area for women and child development, the chief minister tweeted. Our top objective has always been the empowerment of women. It serves as acknowledgement for both the government and the 1.8 million empowered women in West Bengal.

The programme, which will begin in 2022, aims to provide women who are the heads of 1.6 crore households in the state with a monthly basic income supplement. The state government offers Rs. 500 per month to families in the general category and Rs. 1,000 to SC/ST families as part of the programme.

Such honours have been given to the state government frequently. The state was given the coveted “Star of Governance-SKOCH Award in Education” in May of this year.
