GUWAHATI, JAN 6: Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday inagurated and laid foundation stones for several projects in Manipur.
Shah inagurated projects costing around Rs 300 crore while laid foundation stones costing around Rs 10000 core for the Northeastern state.
The Union minister inagurated the first Olympic park in the Northeast at Sangaithel hillock in Manipur. The park will accommodate statues of any state sportspersons participating in the Olympics in future.
An excellent training centre will be come up at the Olympics Park in consultation with Samsung for which necessary machines are expected to arrive by January 15 to provide training facilities in judo, weightlifting and boxing.
Shah also hoisted 165 feet National flag at IMA headquarter at Moirang.
While addressing a programme at Moirang, Amit Shah said, “We are committed to work to wiped out drugs from Manipur. Opium cultivation will be wiped out from Manipur, our government has been committed on ‘Drug free society’. In the last five year, BJP has worked for all round development in Manipur,”.
“In the last 8 years, BJP has given Rs 3.45 lakh core for Northeast but the previous government had failed to provide any funds for the development of Northeast region. Now, the Northeast has become free from insurgency, most of the militant organisation have laid down arms and joined peace talks. Our main priority is to work for the overall development of Northeast,” Shah asserted.
The Union Minister said, “Our government has been working on connectivity. Northeast region is the integral part of India and our government has been committed to develop the areas,”.
“For the development of Northeast, our government has been working in all sector. Under ‘Act East Policy’ , the government has been prioritising the infrastructure sector,” Shah added.
He further added, “Earlier blockades, strikes and protests are the common problem in Manipur but under the Biren Singh’s government the things have changed and lots of improvement have taken place,”.
