CM Mamata Banerjee met with the families of six of the eight individuals—out of the total of eight—who perished on Monday after being washed away in a flash flood in the Mal River here during the immersion of a Durga idol on October 5 and assured them of my full support.
Soon after arriving in Malbazar, Banerjee went to the house of one of the fatalities, where relatives of the other five victims had also gathered.The CM visited the family members and asked them whether there had been any oversight on the side of the local administration that might have led to the tragedy.

“Today she met the family members of six people. who were killed in the flash flood. Mal River earlier this month, and I am grateful to the locals who saved the lives of several people. And I would like to thank them,” Banerjee said in a later interview with reporters. “Around 450 people rescued from the flood, and I am grateful to the locals who did that.
She requested that Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi. who is escorting her on the journey. And provide the relatives with all necessary help as needed.
