As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision to approve the early release of the six individuals convicted of murdering former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Congress expressed its sadness and unhappiness on Friday.
The defendants are currently serving life sentences in jail.
Jairam Ramesh, a member of the Congress and the general secretary in charge of communications, referred to the Supreme Court’s ruling as “absolutely undesirable and completely incorrect.”
He declared, “The Supreme Court’s decision to release the last remaining murderers of former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi is entirely wrong and incorrect.
The Congress Party vehemently objects to it and deems it completely untenable.
Jairam Ramesh continued, “It is quite regrettable that the Supreme Court did not act in accordance with the spirit of India on this subject.
Karti Chidambaram discussed the early release of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination suspects in an interview with India Today.
“The rule of law should be inferred to anyone with a similar conviction,” he declared.
There should be no issue if the law permits.
But everyone in the same category must be subject to the law.
Early release should not be a cause for celebration.
Manicka Tagore, a congressman, expressed his displeasure with the update on Twitter.
Why weren’t Union Government Advocates present when the case was discussed today?
Does Narendra Modi support the crimes of the three Sri Lankans?
What about the effects on national security, Mr. Modi?
Tagore tweeted, “How can you block your eyes and support terrorists?
The victim’s son, Abbas, who died together with Rajiv Gandhi, disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Abbas referred to the verdict as “worse” and said he could not accept the court’s ruling.
This is incredibly tragic.
When Perarivalan was first made available, we did so reluctantly.
But we cannot accept this judgement since it is far worse.
As a victim of the blast, I have suffered because I lost my mother and father sequentially.
This is a terrible decision.
Why were they given a life sentence when this SC has already given them a death sentence?
On that day, 11 innocent Tamils were murdered, including my mother.
What caused their release?
Is there no justice for the victim? asked Abbas.
In addition, Abbas said, “This is all political.
Politicians are pursuing this for electoral purposes.
At the age of 10, it is quite difficult to grow up in our culture without both parents.
I didn’t receive a suitable education or diet as a child, so it’s really difficult for me to live normally now.
I fervently hope that nobody, not even an adversary, encounters that situation.
On the other side, the inmates’ families are pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Ravi, Nalini Sriharan’s brother and one of the defendants in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, expressed his satisfaction over the development.
This is very great news, stated Ravi.
She is a woman as well.
She is being freed after 30 years.
It is wonderful news.
We have experienced a great deal of grief.
Only she is aware of her future plans.
All I want for her is a happy future.
The time of her arrival is yet uncertain.
Ravi referred to his sister as innocent and expressed his continued confidence in Nalini’s innocence.
We are certain that she has nothing to do with this matter.
Nalini was innocent, though we don’t know about the others, Ravi said.
At a conference in Jaffna in October 1990, LTTE leader Pirabhakaran gave the order to kill Rajiv Gandhi because he wanted to stop him from regaining power out of concern for the reintroduction of the IPKF.
