Tripura AICC leader Ajay Kumar allegedly attack by BJP supporters

After Election Commission of India (ECI) announced poll dates in the three Northeastern state’s, Congress AICC Tripura Dr Ajay Kumar was allegedly attacked by BJP supporters at Ranirbazar Mohanpur in West Tripura district on Wednesday.

“We have organised a rally and our party workers are passing through the roads, suddenly BJP supporters gheroed us and started attack on our members. They are running a ‘Jungle Raj’ in Tripura,” alleged Ajay Kumar, who bore injuries during the clash.

Soon after in the incident, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman arrived at the AGMC and GB hospital to inquired about the health condition of their party workers.

Talking to media persons, Sudip Roy Barman alleged that large numbers of BJP supporters attack our party workers.

“A BJP minister was leading the attack on the opposition. We demanded that the election commission separately conduct poll in five constituencies including the Majlishpur constituency where the incident took place today,” the Congress MLA alleged.

He said, “In a peaceful manner, our Congress members holding a rally at Majilishpur constituency, suddenly, a BJP minister came and a hitted argument started and suddenly BJP supporters attacked our party members. We condemned such act and appealed the ECI to take action against the minister against the act,” Sudip Roy Barman said.

On January 13, all India Congress Committee Tripura In-charge Ajoy Kumar, Left Front Convener Narayan Kar, and CPIM state committee secretary Jitendra Choudhury held the meeting at the CPIM state party office regarding pre- poll alliance.

The BJP and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) fought the assembly polls together in 2018 and ousted the Left Front government, which had ruled in the state for an decade.
