Assam: Minor drowned in Brahmaputra river in Dibrugarh

GUWAHATI,  AUG 19: A 10-year-old minor boy was drowned in  Brahmaputra river at Poolbagan area in Dibrugarh on Friday.

The minor have been identified as Kanai Basfor, resident of Santipara ward no 12.

“Kanai Basfor along with five others children went for bathing at Brahmaputra river near Poolbagan. All six of them were drowned in the river but later five of them were rescued but Kanai drowned into the river,” said a local resident.

He said, “Due to heavy current in the Brahmaputra river the minor was drowned,”.

According to reports, Kanai Basfor, Gulu Basfor, Krishna Basfor, Samir Basfor, Jan Basfor and Rohan Basfor went for batting in Brahmaputra river on Friday afternoon.

Dibrugarh Deputy Comissioner Biswajit Pegu said, “One minor was drowned in the river Brahmaputra at Poolbagan area while he went for batting along with other five children’s. SDRF has been conducting rescue operation in the Brahmaputra river,”.
