Arunachal: 700 people gets free spectacles, free medicines

Itanagar, Aug 29: In our society there are many people who after realising the pain and suffering of the people come forward to help them using all their resources. Nyabi Jini Dirchi, the Zila Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) of Leparada district of Arunachal Pradesh is one of them.

Realising the requirement of providing relief and succor to the people suffering from various types of eye ailments, the ZPC Nyabi Jini Dirchi organized a two day long preliminary level free eye check-up camp was held on August 27 and 28 at the Basar District Hospital.

Despite inclement weather and communication hazards around 1100 people turned up for the two day long camp. Doctors and Optometrists from Assam Medical College and Hospitals, Dibrugarh conducted the camp in collaboration with Bright Vision NE, a Dibrugarh based NGO. On the other hand, doctors, nurses and other staff members of the hospital provided all necessary assistance for smooth conduct of the camp.

Around 700 people were distributed with free spectacles apart from free distribution of medicines. More than a hundred patients have been referred to AMCH for further treatment and operation.

It was very much heartening to notice as how aged patients walked for miles to attend the camp. The BJP District unit of Leparada district came up with all kind of administrative assistance for the camp. People who attended the camp expressed their deep gratitude towards the ZPC Nyabi Jini Dirchi for her explemplery social work and for providing humanitarian assistance to the people of the district.
