GUWAHATI: The Tandava Dance of illegal timber smugglers is continue in Arunachal Pradesh and its neighboring state Assam.
It will not be a surprise if Arunachal Pradesh and Assam would have deserted look like Rajasthan in coming years.
After seizure of alleged illegal timber recently the environmentalists across the northeast have expressed dismay over the seized truck and criticized the responsible authorities.
“Chopping up trees in forest is a crime. It is a matter of deep concern that how the illegal timber smugglers are able to do this . They are cutting all the valuable trees just for selfishness,” Devajit Moran, secretary of Green Bud Society told OUR INDIA.
“I appeal the government to conduct a thorough investigation on those who are involved in illegal transportation of timber and take appropriate action against those who are responsible,” Moran added .
A 16 wheeler Punjab body truck who was allegedly carrying illegal wood from the bordering Arunachal Pradesh was intercepted and seized in a late night operation at Digboi in Tinsukia district of upper Assam which shares border with Arunachal Pradesh.
