Arunachal Pradesh: Joint attack by  NSCN & Ulfa-I at Assam Rifles camp near Indo-Myanmar border 

GUWAHATI, AUG 9: Ahead of Independence Day celebration, a joint team of NSCN and Ulfa-I attacked on a newly built Army camp at Pangsu pass in Arunachal Pradesh  near Indo-Myanmar border on Tuesday.

Sources said around 4am the joint team of NSCN and Ulfa-I suddenly attacked on the Assam Rifles camp.

In a retaliation, the Assam Rifles  fired on them and a fire fight broke out between them but no casulities has been reported, said a source.

“Incident of firing on Assam Rifles troops by militant groups from across the Indo Myanmar Border took place early morning today in Pangsu pass area.Assam Rifles troops were undertaking enhanced patrolling activities in view of heightened vigil for the forthcoming Independence Day. One JCO sustained minor injury in hand. No injury or any other damage reported,” stated Army press release.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a massive operation near Indo-Myanmar border.

Recently, Assam Rifles have launched massive operations against the insurgents groups in Tirap, Longding and Changlang region of Arunachal Pradesh and nabbed many NSCN cadres.

Pangsu pass area is one of the remotest area in Arunachal Pradesh and shares boundary with Myanmar. Most of the insurgents groups of Northeast have set up their camps in the jungles of Myanmar and very easily they penetrate in Arunachal Pradesh through jungle routes.
