Dibrugarh, Sep 4: Body of 17-year-old girl was recovered from the resident of one Moni Rajwar at Dhekeri Gaon in Banipur area of eastern Assam Dibrugarh on Sunday night.
The minor girl was found hanging in her room with ceiling fan but when police reached the spot her body was laying on the bed.
It has been suspected that the minor girl was raped and murder.
Police arrested four persons in connection with the murder of the girl.
The accused has been identified as Biswajit Bakti, Kishore Bauri, Rohit Rabi Das alias Naga and Lohit Deka.
Talking to media persons, Dibrugarh Additional SP(HQ) Papori Chetia said, “We have found the body of thr minor from the resident of one Moni Rajwar, where the girl was living since three months. The girl hails from Makum, Tinsukia. We have sent the body for post-mortem and before that we cannot ascertain anything,”.
“We have started our investigation and arrested four persons in connection with the case. Among four one of them is minor. We have sent four of them for medical,” Chetia said.
She added, “When our police team reached the spot, they found the body was laying on the bed. She was found hanging with a ceiling fan. We have collected all the samples from the spot and started investigation. Right now we cannot say anything because the investigation is at preliminary stage,”.
A case no 472/ 2023 u/s 302/376 D IPC was registered at Dibrugarh police station.
