DIBRUGARH, FEB 15: All India Radio Dibrugarh on Wednesday celebrated its 55th foundation day at All India Radio station in upper Assam Dibrugarh.
All India Radio, Dibrugarh has always been committed to work for inclusive growth of the society since its commissioning February, 15, 1969 at the easternmost part of the country.
During the past years AIR Dibrugarh has been sincerely trying to cater services for preservation and promotion of Culture and wisdom, highlighting the social values and ethos and to boost scientifically the agricultural, commercial and industrial activities parallelly with entertainment.
Drama, with all its formats stage, street, radio, film or television always has a great impact on the society. Because the tradition of drama has been part of the ritual and social life of the people embracing the totality of their way of life, habits, attitudes and propensities. While as a form of entertainment, drama or theatrical activities and performances are regarded as informal ways by which the quality of lives of people can be inculcated and enriched.
All India Radio Dibrugarh so far has organized Radio Drama Festival for several times; but this is the biggest ever. A total of 19 dramas performed by 18 amateur theatre groups of Upper Assam have already been recorded for the festival.
The festival dramas, a total of 39 episodes of 30 minutes duration will start broadcasting from 16th of February, 2023 and end on the 27th of March, 2023. On 15th of February there will a Curtain Raiser programme and on 28th it will be summed up with the Concluding Programme.
The Objectives of the Festival are to promote the young theatre talents of Assam especially those who are not yet acquainted with the Radio platform, promote Radio Drama and to attract the amateur theatre groups towards Radio to work for social cause.
