Assam: Cash van guard accidentally opens fire in Tinsukia

GUWAHATI, SEP 7: An ATM cash van security guard accidentally opened fire in front of the main branch of the State Bank of India in upper Assam Tinsukia town on Wednesday.

However no one was injured as the security guard was inside the cash van when the bullet was accidentally fired from his single barrel gun. It is suspected that the safety latch of the gun was not locked when the incident took place.

The incident happened when the cash van was depositing money in the SBI ATM and the person was guarding the vehicle. Sources said that the bullet accidentally exploded from the security guard’s gun and caused panic among the people on the spot.

The Tinsukia police rushed to the spot soon after the incident. The guard was detained by the police for questioning and an investigation has been launched.
