Assam: Dibrugarh Siddheswari Kali Mandir Durga puja gears up to celebrate Silver jubilee

GUWAHATI,  SEP 23: Siddheshwari Kali Mandir Durga Puja committee geared up to celebrate Silver Jubilee in a traditional way.

Siddheshwari Kali Mandir Durga puja committee has been organizing Durga Puja since 1998 and this year they are celebrating their 25 years.

The local workers are working day and night to complete the pandal before the Durga puja. Mostly local workers were engaged to make the pandal.

“Last two years, due to Covid-19, we have celebrated the puja in small way. But this time, we are celebrating 25 years and taken certain programme during the four day extravaganza. Our theme is based on ‘Vocal for local’. We are using our own materials no materials were brought from outside. We have used local bamboo to make the pandal. All the workers are from Assam, no workers were brought from West Bengal,” said Sukanta Deb, secretary of Siddheshwari Kali Mandir Durga puja comittee.

He said, “Our main objective is to showcase our local talent. We have engaged local workers and they are working day and night to make the pandal on time. Our pandal and idol are made of all eco-friendly items. We are expecting huge crowd during the puja.”

“We will take out a rally on Mahalaya, where everybody will participate wearing traditional dress. On that day, we will distribute new clothes to the poor people. This year, we will celebrate our puja in a traditional way. We are also expecting 2000 devotees during the Asthami Anjali,” said Deb.
