Assam police arrested four suspected Ansarullah Bangla Jihadis

GUWAHATI, OCT 17: In a massive crackdown against Jihadi modules in the state, the Assam police on October 17 arrested four persons from the state for having alleged links with Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

All the arrest has been made from Nalbari and Tamulpur in Assam.

“The arrested suspected terrorist has been identified as Amjad Ajmal Hussain. Amjad has direct connections to Mohammed Suman, also known as Saiful Islam alias Harun Rashid, a member of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS),” said a police official.

The police also seized mobile phones along with other incriminating documents.

The individual was believed to have connections to an Al-Qaeda network in Bangladesh.

The suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday from Guwahati’s Fatasil Ambari, according to the police.

In the month of August 2022, a suspected terrorist was detained by the Goalpara police along with Guwahati city police as part of an operation against Jihadi terror networks in Lower Assam districts.

“The Jihadi groups are trying every possible means to penetrate in Assam to create a  tension among the communities by brainwashing the targeted minority community. We have found that they have mostly targeted the people of char areas and brain washed them. So far we have arrested many of them who were directly linked with ABT and Al-Qaeda and sent them in jail,” said a senior police official.
