Assam: Sixth Dibrugarh Marathon held to promote health awareness

GUWAHATI,  AUG 21: The 6th edition of the Dibrugarh Marathon organised by Marwari Yuva Manch Dibrugarh Greater was held on Sunday which witnessed the participation of over 1,500 sports enthusiasts.

 The event that was divided into four categories namely 4km, 7km, 11km and 21.1km (half marathon) was flagged off from the old government boys’ high school field by Dibrugarh Municipal Board chairperson Dr Saikat Patra and vice chairman Ujjal Phukon at 5.30am.

The winners of the 4km event were: Male – Kushal Singh (1st), Prem Dorji (2nd), Tinku Sharma (3rd) Female – Aditi Sonowal (1st), Barbi Karmakar (2nd), Hiramati Murah (3rd).

The winners of 7km event were: Male – Humen Senapati (1st), Debajit Kurmi (2nd), Dhon Karmakar (3rd) Female – Kalyani Garh (1st), Urmila Garh (2nd), Asha Bania (3rd).

The winners of 11km event were: Male – Basavaraj Majagi (1st), Prashant Patil (2nd), Subhash Nayak (3rd) Female – Momota Urang (1st), Rumi Munda (2nd), Saheba Ahmed (3rd).

The winners of 21.1km half marathon were: Male – Rupan Debnath (1st), Tikheswar Kurmi (2nd), Bikram Das (3rd) Female – Rekhamoni Saikia (1st), Rupali Munda (2nd), Lokhi Bhumij (3rd).
