Assam: Two terror suspects linked to Ansar-Al-Bangla arrested

GUWAHATI, SEP 12: The Assam Police have arrested two person for allegedly having links with Ansarullah Bangla. They were arrested from Morigaon and Nagaon district of Assam.

The arrested persons have been identified as Musadik Hussain and Ikramul Islam, who were nabbed by Morigaon police, while the other one, Ikramul, is an Imam  was arrested from Nagaon. 

The Assam police have started massive crackdown against Jihadis and so far a total of 15 Jihadis were arrested from different parts of Assam.

Earlier, one Madrassa was demolished in Morigaon district after suspected terror links with Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

Earlier on August 2, a man suspected of having links with Jihadi elements turned himself in to police in Lower Assam’s Barpeta district.

This comes amid the state police force’s relentless crackdown on terror elements after a Madrassa teacher in Morigaon district was nabbed for alleged links to terror groups operating mainly out of Bangladesh.

“We are investigating growing Jihadis activities in Assam and so far many suspects were arrested. Many of the suspects were found linked with ABT and planning subversive activities to destabilize peace in Assam,” said a senior police official.
