Assam: Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika visits Dibrugarh to take stock of the erosion

Guwahati, Mar 27: Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika on Monday took stock of the erosion site at Koliaghat in upper Assam Dibrugarh.

In the recent erosion a total of 220 metres of land were washed away by the Brahmaputra river posing serious threat to Dibrugarh town.

Pijush Hazarika was accompanied by Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and officials from Water Resources Department. Hazarika instructed the officials of Water Resources Department to take more precautionary measures to deal with the erosion.

Recently, Geo-bags technology and porcupines were used to stop the erosion in the area. Pijush Hazarika assured that permanent measures would be taken against the erosion in the area.

.The area was recently hit by massive erosion with only less than 10 metres remaining for the river to touch the Dibrugarh town protection dyke behind the Dibrugarh town Gurdwara on the AT Road.
