Guwahati, Sep 1: In a heart-wrenching incident, a mother killed two of her daughters after a brawl with her husband in Assam’s Cachar district.
The incident took place at Hatikhaal area of Cachar district on last night.
The mother has been identified as- Ajmira Begum.
According to police, Ajmira Begum killed two of her girl child aged between three-year-old and 18-months-old after drowning them to a nearby pond.
“She took the drastic step after a brawl with her husband (Babul Hussain) in the last night. The mother took two of her daughters in a nearby pond and tied them to herself with her dupatta and then jumped into the water. We have recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem,” said a police official.
Ajmira Begum, in her statement said, “I have no one in this world, and so I wanted to end the lives of me and my childrens,”.
Ajmira is the second wife of Babul Hussain.
Sources said after Babul had a brawl with Ajmira last night, he went to the house of other wife and sleep their when the incident unfolded.
“We have heard some argument of Babul Hussian with her wife Ajmira regarding some matter. In the early morning, we have heard somebody crying, when we come out from our home, we have seen Ajmira was sitting infront of her daughters and crying. We have immediately informed the police about the incident,” said a local resident.
After the incident entire area has been in complete shocked. Meanwhile, police have arrested Ajmira and started investigation.
On August 25, 2023, in another incident came to light, where a mother killed her infant girl child.
The incident took place at Itakhola area in Assam’s Sonitpur district.
As per reports, the woman identified as Anowara Khatun after killing the infant buried her in a pit near the house.
