GUWAHATI, SEP 5: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush and Senior Leader of BJP, Sarbananda Sonowal was given a warm reception at the BJP Assam Pradesh programme held at Guwahati ITA Machkhowa on Monday.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the President of BJP Assam Pradesh, Bhabesh Kalita among other prominent leaders of the party felicitated Sarbananda Sonowal for becoming the first person from the Northeast to be elected into the apex decision making bodies of BJP; i.e. Central Parliamentary Committee and Central Election Committee.
After offering his tributes to all those party members whose tireless effort to build the party since its inception in 1980 until today, the Senior BJP Leader, Sarbananda Sonowal, said, “I am deeply moved by the love and honour that the BJP has extended me. It encourages me to remain committed and steadfast towards achieving social & people’s welfare. Nation first, party second and self last – this unique spirit differentiates BJP from any other party in India. I am deeply humbled to be provided with an opportunity to serve in this party towards nation building. I am committed to perform any action that the party bestows upon me with complete dedication and commitment. We are for the party, and the party is for the country. In order to build a new India, all of us must refrain from individual interest and combine our energy as a collective force to strengthen our party and work towards building a strong nation.”
Sarbananda Sonowal extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National President of BJP, JP Nadda and National General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP, BL Santosh for giving him new responsibilities in the newly constituted apex committees of the party. Sonowal further said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeast and Assam must not look back. It is the vision of Modi that has powered the growth and development of the region to become the New Engine of growth in the new India. This is why people from every region, community and states in the Northeast has embraced BJP with love & adulation, Sonowal further added.
