Beginning on December 15, the 28th iteration of the Kolkata International Film Festival will take place. It will occur over a year and a half after the previous edition.
Numerous Bollywood celebs will participate at KIFF, and several of them recently attended the Red Sea Festival in Jeddah. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan will be the honorary guests at KIFF, while Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film Abhimaan will open the festival, according to West Bengal Information and Culture department officials on Saturday.
This year’s film festival will feature five competition categories: Asian Select, Competition on Indian Languages, National Competition on Documentary, National Competition on Short Fiction, and International Competition Innovation in Moving Images (NETPAC Award.
Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan will open KIFF
The Kolkata International Film Festival’s honorees will be Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. In addition to these two megastars, the opening ceremony of the film festival will also feature Jaya Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Kumar Sanu, Shatrughan Sinha, and Mahesh Bhatt.
Previously, the film festival was held in 2022 from April 25 to May 1. The film festival will take place for the second time that year. Prior to this, the yearly event was not physically held in 2020 or 2021 because of COVID regulations. The festival’s current edition will screen 183 movies from 42 different nations. Only 183 films from 42 nations have been chosen for the film festival out of the 1078 films from 57 countries that applied to enter. During the festival, over 200 programmes will be screened at 10 different locations
