The boycott Bollywood trend has been gaining attraction for quite a long time now. A lot of stars has come up and talked about this issue. Suniel Shetty has also recently seen attending an event in Raipur, where he broke his silence on the current social media boycott trends and called it unfair as those in the industry are working hard with good intentions. While answering to the several questions asked by the media, he said, “We have done a lot of good work too. However, people might not be happy with the type of subjects the films are having these days, and that is why we are going through such a tough time”.
He also added, “Hopefully, this will be considered. Initially, it felt like a one-off thing but now we have been continuously seeing that people are not coming to theatres and I can’t put my finger on a reason why and what this is happening”.
As we’ve seen, celebrities had to deal with the social media boycott trend. Among them are Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Vijay Devarkonda. However, boycott calls have also been made for films like Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and Vikram Vedha, starring Hrithik Roshan.

Twitter users are putting up posts using hashtags like #BoycottBollywood and #Boycottbollywoodforever. This trend is growing faster than we thought and it’s a scary situation for filmmakers and even the celebrities. After the huge failure of the films ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ at the box office, many actors are fearing it might affect business of their films as well.
