South Kolkata Resident looses 1 lakh Rupees in e- fraud

During the recent holiday season, a resident of East Kolkata lost Rs 1 lakh while attempting to track her food via a well-known food delivery app. She had contacted the restaurant’s customer service number, but it was a fake.

Chandraboli Chakraborty, the 35-year-old complainant, claimed she was attempting to trace her order so she could finish the necessary payment procedures. “Every time I tried to use the programme, an error message appeared. So I made the decision to call the restaurant. I contacted a number I found through a Google search. I was requested to provide my card information so they could pay me in advance. I did what I was told, but I soon discovered that I had lost about Rs 1 lakh from my two accounts, “She complained, saying.
The case is being looked into by the cyber unit of the Bidhannagar Police after a fraud complaint was filed.

Before returning to Kolkata and residing in Lake Gardens, a woman who spent several years in London and had even collaborated closely with foreign law enforcement authorities was allegedly defrauded online of Rs 24 lakh. The accused befriended her while playing an online game, which stood out despite the fact that the accused’s method of operation is typical of the Nigerian fraud gang.  This incident happened last year.
