students carry on protests at IIT-Kharagpur over death in institute as dean quits

Following the ongoing student protest over the institute’s “lackadaisical” response to the murder of third-year mechanical engineering student Faizan Ahmed, the dean of student relations at IIT-Kharagpur has resigned from his position.

Sources claim that Dhrubajyoti Sen quit on October 19, but students learned of the news at an open house held on Friday by IIT director V K Tiwari. According to accounts, many of the students present at the session chanted epithets against the director and requested his resignation for how he handled the issue after the student passed away.
