In a show of unity before the oath-taking ceremony, Himachal Pradesh’s presumptive CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu met state Congress chief Pratibha Virbhadra Singh at her residence on Sunday. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, a four-time MLA and grassroots politician, thanked Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and the Gandhi family for choosing him to serve as the Chief Minister.

Mukesh Agnihotri, the leader of the Congress, will be sworn in as the deputy chief minister.

The head of the Himachal Congress responded, “Almost,” when asked if her son Vikramaditya Singh, a Shimla Rural MLA, will hold a ministerial position in the state cabinet.

 

Pratibha Singh, whose followers had called for her to become the CM, declared that she would go to Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s swearing-in ceremony.

In the recently held assembly elections, the Congress trounced the BJP and won 40 seats. Election results were announced on Thursday after the polls closed on November 12.
