In the Asansol Lok Sabha sector and other areas of Paschim Bardhaman district, posters claiming that the local MP Shatrughan Sinha is “missing” have appeared. The BJP is accusing him of forsaking the constituents in his seat.
On a Trinamool Congress ticket, Sinha won the Asansol parliamentary byelection earlier this year. Similar posters were reportedly discovered in the district’s Kulti neighbourhood in addition to Asansol.
“Why wasn’t the Asansol MP, commonly known as Bihari Babu, seen in his constituency to be with his people during Chhat Puja?” asked the poster.
Even though MP Sinha is referred to as “Bihari Babu,” another poster stated that he was conspicuously absent from his own Lok Sabha district on the occasion of Chhat Puja, Bihar’s most important festival.Salim Ansari, a local councilman, asserted, however, that Sinha routinely visited his district and was not present at the time because he was spending the holiday season with his family. “There are all different types of people who engage in strange activities, such as hanging posters. MP Sinha travels to Asansol frequently. Even just a few days ago, he came here. Even though he hasn’t visited for the past 10 to 15 days, that doesn’t imply he never will. At his home, a pooja is taking place. Ansari stated he was spending time with his family.
In a jab at Sinha, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh remarked, “When he was a Union minister, he used to travel overseas a lot. He betrayed the people of his constituency. As an MP, he also travels much. Since the BJP requires interaction with others, he was unable to remain there. But in the TMC, such is not the case. Their leaders have vanished in such great numbers.
