Gehlot says to declare on Mangarh Dham a national monument after PM Modi’s visit

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, expressed dismay on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided against designating Mangarh Dham as a national monument but refrained from criticising the BJP. Gehlot stated that “maybe, we asked for a lot,” which is why the expectation could not be fulfilled.

Gehlot, who was also present, publicly asked the prime minister to designate Mangarh Dham as a national monument as he was giving a speech to a crowd in the Banswara region of Rajasthan.

“Today, I had hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would formally designate Mangarh Dham as a national monument, but my wish was not granted. It will be designated as a national monument today or tomorrow “Gehlot said to the media after launching the Pushkar Fair.

“Maybe, we asked for a lot. He (Modi) might have seen that politics is going on (on the issue), so wait for some time… today or tomorrow, the memorial will be declared a national monument. This is what I can say,”

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) tweeted that PM Modi had designated the dham a national monument while he was addressing the crowd. The tweet was later taken down during the day.

Hanuman Beniwal, an MP for the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) from Nagaur, claimed that by delaying the declaration of Mangarh Dham as a national monument, Modi has let down the tribal people.

“BJP leaders were also continuously propagating this (declaring Mangarh Dham a national monument), but it was not done by the prime minister due to which there is a huge disappointment among the people of the tribal area,”
