GUWAHATI, JULY 28: : India and Uzbekistan held a bilateral meeting where the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment & Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev discussed a range of subject including exploring an alternative vista of maritime trade between the two countries via Chabahar port in Iran, here today.
During the meeting, a desire was expressed by the Uzbekistan delegation to do a pilot container cargo movement from Tashkent to Navi Mumbai’s JNPA port, via Chabahar port in Iran. Both India & Uzbekistan agreed that this new vista may unlock future possibility of a Trans Caspian Multi Modal Transit Corridor between the Central Asia and South Asia regions.
Speaking at the end of the discussion, the Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “India and Uzbekistan share a great relationship for many years. It was a pleasure to meet Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev as we discussed various avenues to further strengthen our bilateral relationship. I am happy to share that we want to explore an alternative vista of maritime trade between Tashkent and Mumbai via Chabahar port. This will not only open up new opportunities of trade but also strengthen the trade viability between the Central Asian and South Asian markets.”
The meeting also addressed the various avenues that the traditional medicinal practice can provide in the enrichment healthcare & patient care in both the countries. It was also agreed that the Ministry of Ayush will send a team of professionals to Uzbekistan to support creating a roadmap to rejuvenate & develop their traditional medicinal practices.
Sonowal further added, “We discussed how the traditional medicine of India and Uzbekistan can be expounded for better patient care. India is committed to the enrichment of the traditional medicinal practices for the enrichment of human lives. With this objective, India is keen to work with Uzbekistan to support, explore and develop their medicinal practices in a modern and scientific way. For this, the Ministry of Ayush will be sending a team of Ayush professionals to work with the experts of Uzbekistan to create a roadmap for rejuvenation and enhancement of the traditional medicinal practice.”
