4 Bangladeshis are detained by BSF in the Cooch Behar district.

Four Bangladeshis were detained by the Border Security Force on Monday near Haldibari in the Cooch Behar district for attempting to enter India.

An e-rickshaw that was travelling toward Haldibari in the Cooch Behar district was stopped by members of the force’s 15th battalion who were stationed in the Jalpaiguri district. Two Bangladeshis, one of whom is a woman, were detained; they are from the Bangladeshi districts of Munshiganj and Dinajpur. However, the owner of the vehicle was able to leave the area.

The pair admitted under questioning that they had booked rooms at a hotel in Haldibari. Later, the BSF detained two additional Bangladeshis from the same hotel who are from the Patuakhali and Shariatpur areas.

According to a source, “The quartet admitted sneaking into India for survival and had plans to settle in various Indian towns.” The police have received all four of the suspects.

In a different incidence, the BSF detained Gano Mahato on Monday in the South Dinajpur area after 150 yaba tablets were found in his home.
